This website is at present under construction—we hope to be able to provide full access to archival material and other information in the near future.

The Draycott and Church Wilne History Group is made up of a small number of enthusiastic researchers dedicated to investigating the people, buildings and events in the past in the Draycott and Church Wilne area of Derbyshire.

We are putting together an archive of old photographs and maps of Draycott, Church Wilne and the immediately surrounding area—we will soon be making some of this material available via this website.

We are going to put on an exhibition in St. Mary’s Church Hall, Draycott for the three days of the Scarecrow Festival (29th-31st August 2015).  This includes a special video display of  maps and aerial photos of Draycott through the ages.  It will also have displays on the Lace industry in Draycott and Church Wilne with information on the Towle family—the local magnates of the lace business in Victorian times.  There will be displays on the people and places to do with the Lace industry.  We also will be looking at allotments in Draycott and have some interesting old advertisements and some reports of local rogues and miscreants.
